We are delighted to be in a position that alongside Assistant Pro Nicky Tibbetts we can also now offer golf tuition here at Carlisle Golf Club with PGA Professionals Craig Goodfellow and Stuart Rafferty.
Nicky Tibbetts – Assistant Pro
Nicky started playing golf from the age of 10 and after leaving School joined the Lee Westwood Golf School where he studied a B-TEC in Sports Performance for two years. Whilst at the school in 2012 he was part of the team that won the national finals of the British Schools and Colleges tour at St Andrews.
In 2011 Nicky represented Cumbria U18’s in the Northern Counties League and also won the Junior County Championship.
In 2012 Nicky was given the opportunity to go to America and represent the Golf School prior to the opening of the Lee Westwood Academy in Orlando. After spending 5 weeks playing and practicing in the sun he was offered a scholarship to stay for 9 months and play on the ‘Fore The Players’ mini tour.
An important part of the Team who’s passion and desire to achieve his personal goals has seen him become Club Champion in 2015 and an integral part of the County Men’s Team.
Craig Goodfellow – PGA Teaching Professional
•2001 GB&I PGA Assistants Champion
•2007 & 2011 Represented GB&I in the PGA Cup team matches in America
•2001,2002,2005 and 2011 Represented England in the European team championship(winning in 2005)
“I started my PGA training at Eden Golf Club in 1996. This took three and a half years to complete which gave me the chance to practice, improve and learn more about the golf swing. The following few years I played full time playing Europro tour, Asian tour and qualifying to play in four European tour events, including the Volvo PGA Championship twice.
An opportunity arose to teach at Carlisle Driving Range in November 2006. At this point the driving range was a Peter Mitchell Golf Academy, so having the chance to learn from a European tour player and coach has proved an invaluable teaching experience. I taught a wide range of pupils from beginners to professionals. During this time I also had some of my best playing achievements, greatest of which was winning the GB&I Club Professionals Championships in 2011.
I then taught at Penrith Driving Range for the next three and a half years and further developed my teaching, incorporating GC2 and HMT technology for ball and club head reading.
Teaching is my main passion. I firmly believing that there is no text book golf swing and that each individual lesson must be tailored to that pupils needs and capabilities.”
Stuart Rafferty – PGA Teaching Professional
