Class of 2019
Starting from around 8 years old I would go to the junior coaching sessions one night a week. From then on I became a member and would start to play regular junior competitions and matches. This would slowly move on to men’s medals and county junior events such as the 18 hole and 36 hole stroke play tournaments, both of which I have won. This would lead onto me getting into the club championship final at 15 years old and getting my first county men’s start the following year and the progression to national junior events.
Fast forward to now, I am captain of the McKendree golf team in Illinois, USA, where I have had 6 runner ups and 5 top 5’s, as well as making it into conference and regional teams a couple times in my three and half years so far. I still have one year remaining in America where I will complete my masters as well as compete in college golf events.

I joined Carlisle when I was around eleven years old as a Junior Lady member. I was lucky enough to be able to play in both Ladies and Junior competitions and I enjoyed every minute. At the time, the club had a great group of young golfers which were competitive enough to encourage all involved to improve our games. I thoroughly enjoyed playing junior league matches and made some good friends because of it.
Playing as a junior I always felt so welcome and encouraged, whether it be on the course, on the practise ground or in the clubhouse. Throughout the past couple of seasons, I have been fortunate enough to win the Cumbria Ladies County Championship, The Northern Close Championship and two Club Championships. I am currently in my second year of studying and playing golf for Lenoir Rhyne University in North Carolina and I know that my time learning how to play in a great environment like Carlisle Golf Club has had a big part to play in my success.
Class of 2019
I won the Irish boys open amateur in 2018 and was part of the winning GB&I team in Finland later that year. I won the welsh amateur championship in 2019 and was the second qualifier for the boys amateur championship later that year.
As a junior I played competitions at Carlisle when I wasn’t away at tournaments and used the facilities to hone my skills. I now go to East Tennessee State in America and am a redshirt freshman after being given an extra year because of Covid-19.
So far I have recorded 6 top 15 finishes in college with a second place finish at my most recent event in Kiawah Island which is my best finish to date. I want to keep getting better and pushing on to have more success individually but as a team also.
Class of 2013
I joined the junior section at the golf club when I was 11, and I was able to start competing in the junior competitions straight away. When I played my first competitions, despite being a starter to golf, I was treat nicely by the older juniors.
After a year, I was asked to participate in the golf club’s junior team, where we compete against other golf clubs in the area, this was great as it allowed me to participate against other juniors across the county, helping me to become a better golfer whilst making friends and also getting a free meal at the end of each game, which is always the best part.
The golf club offers great facilities to improve your game, and the professional coaching is very helpful as they give great advice whilst also helping you to gain traction from county golf. As I became a better golfer, I have been allowed to play in men’s competitions as well as play for the men’s golf team and participate for them across the county. Overall, it’s been a great experience as a junior at Carlisle golf club, and I have been treat fantastically by everyone I’ve came across so far.
Class of 2013
I have been a member for 24 years and have a handicap of +3. I have represented the club in both the Junior and Men’s teams. As a Junior of Carlisle Golf Club, I represented the Cumbria junior team which won the “Little 6” and went on to the National finals. I have played many National competitions and managed to win a Faldo Series Event. In 2012 I represented England Schools in an international match VS Scotland.
For the past 10 years I’ve played for the Men’s County team and in 2016 + 2017 I won the County Strokeplay Championship then in 2018 the Green Jacket Order of Merit.
My first job was at Carlisle golf club working behind the bar and spent 3 fun filled years doing that. I will continue to play for and represent Carlisle Golf Club and I am proud to see it next to my name.
