Members Only Area
GREENS
> STRI Plan - we have removed as many trees as we can (around the
13th and 5th tees) without a felling licence, and the 13th in particular has
been improved. Some gorse has been planted on the 5th and
13th holes. More felling and replanting is proposed for the Autumn after we have
hopefully) obtained the licence.
> A bell has been installed at the first hole to improve safety.
> The Greens Committee is looking at the prospect of enlarging and improving the
putting green beside the clubhouse. Any such work would be
a winter project.
> It is proposed to put in distance markers (100, 150, 200 yards as appropriate)
and sponsorship is being sought to offset the cost.
> Practice Area. This gets more and more use each year and to minimise wear and
tear members are asked to use the mats or the practice bays as
much as possible.
DRESS/CONDUCT CODE
A summary of the responses to last year's questionnaire is on the
noticeboard and the club's dress and conduct code updated. Although you may not
agree with everything in the code, it is based on the views of those of you who
completed the questionnaire and all members are requested to comply with it. It
was noticeable that most of the comments you made acknowledged the fact that we
were a prestigious club and that high standards should be maintained if we were
to continue to be so.
Please note particularly
that mobile phones should not be used at all in the clubhouse (except the
locker rooms) and should be switched off and only used in a genuine emergency on
the course.

Ladies’ News
Locker Room
The locker room is now in full use and everyone seems pleased with the result. Keys are with Mike behind the bar for those who not yet claimed their locker keys. Nancy Britton is looking after the lockers so if you have a query please see her. At present there are a couple of lockers still not occupied so if you would like one see Nancy. It may well be that we have to start a waiting list if they are oversubscribed. In the event of anyone losing their key, a master key may be borrowed from behind the bar. A new key will be cut but there will be a charge of £5.00.
Visitors lockers may be used by members on a daily basis but please do not store your items overnight. Any equipment left will be removed as we need to keep these lockers available for visitors.
Mail on Sunday
Congratulations to our team Nicola Tebbutt, Mary Bellingham, Pat Henderson, Noeleen Ball and Janice Keggans on a resounding win over Carrus Green. The next round will be played against Eden.
Nine Hole Medal
This will be played on our monthly medal days and is open to anyone who currently has an active handicap. We will also be running a Stableford competition on medal days for those with handicaps from 30-36
Competition Entries
We had hoped by the beginning of the season to have a computerised system up and running for entries and times but we are still struggling to get into the new system!!. Therefore entries for competitions will be the same as for the winter competitions until further notice. Could those of you who have a computer and have not given us your e-mail address please let Frances, Pat or myself have it so we can compile a folder for sending out times. Please be patient we are doing our best.
Teams
Lists for those interested in playing in our team competitions will be going up soon. The dates are already on the board and team practices will be starting shortly .
In the meantime enjoy your golf.
